At The Bravissimos

Tonight we are at the Bravissimo Awards Ceremony honoring educators who support the visual and performing arts. Michelle is winning the award for the administrator of the year. Congrats!

I was there to support my wife, eat the food, and drink the free wine. Long live VAPA.

Training For The Summer Olympics...Of Chill

We have been spending our weekends hanging out and relaxing.

Two weeks ago our friend Henry said he needed help moving some dirt in his backyard. I agreed to assist as long as I had some say in where we put the dirt and what shape it would end up in. After careful consideration, we decided the best bet was to build a left-hand berm in the backyard. After a few hours of shoveling we had something rideable. See below for a video of me taking it for a test drive...

Last weekend we had a "mothers day party" in Henry's backyard and he invited the neighborhood kids to bring their bikes over for a quick jam session. Good times.

Later on in "The Speed Shop" (a.k.a. garage handout) some serious games of "501" happened. Take a look at the photo below of a dart that stuck into the back of another dart.

Talk about accuracy.....actually it was pure luck. Want to see real accuracy? Watch this video of a "perfect" dart game from the 80's. It's called the perfect "nine dart" game because he counted down from 501 to zero and doubled out with only nine throws. Watch the video then get motivated to go toss some darts!

Two Wheel Transportation

I have been riding my bike to work recently. I am down to about 10 minutes 1 way for transit time. I do not take the most direct route because I need to avoid the hills. My students get a kick out of seeing me ride by on my bike. It is a lot of fun.

today I was riding my bike down voltaire street and a teenager in a car yelled "hey mormon" at me. I got a kick out of that because I wear a tie to work everyday :-)

Dirt Bikes In NYC And City Skiing

You know I love trolling the internet for wacky videos. A friend of mine named Justin shared two with me. The first is a video of someone street-skiing in Canada. The artistic look of the video and the music is very cool. Make sure to watch it through the initial slow part. The second half will be pleasantly surprising.

The second video falls into the category of "I can't believe it". Apparently there is a motorcycle gang based out of Harlem that loves to ride through town doing wheelies on their motorcycles. I didn't know people rode bikes in NYC. Regardless of how you feel about what they are doing you have to admit they are pretty good at riding wheelies!
