Sailing And Selling

Went for a sail on the bay. Saw a navy ship in dry dock. A seagull followed us during a tack. I recently gave away over 300 avocados then found them on sale for 1.79 each....maybe we should open a roadside stand.

300 Avocados

Michelle and I decided to clean up the backyard a little. We called Trini, our favorite tree trimmer and ask him to help us out.

When we moved into our house ten years ago, one of the first things we noticed about the property was the beautiful avocado tree in the backyard. The house was build in 1939 and we are pretty sure the tree was planted around that time. The tree provides a lot of shade as well as plenty of avocados.

Trini spent the first couple of hours trimming the avocado tree. All of the work was done by hand, no power tools.

We asked him to lighten the canopy. Our goal was to provide some of the plants below with some additional light. Before and after photos are below.

and...

We had the tree trimmed during the month of December because we knew the avocados were ready to be picked. This afternoon we picked 14 bags of avocados. At aprox. 25 units per bag - we harvested around 300 avocados!

While we were at it, we asked Trini to trim up the palm trees. Things are looking pretty good!

Before And After

Below is a photo of the tractor after we cleaned it up. We also cut, sanded, and stained some blocks for it to carry. I think my parents bought this tractor for me when I was about eight years old.

Randomness

combo post. Went out to dinner with our friends Daniel and Richard....his card has a cat paw next to it so I added a Jack photo. Checked the surf and out was out of control so we went to a sports bar which had a cool sign on the jukebox during the Sunday football games. Had some Ice cream with Michelle. I cleaned up an old wooden tractor.

I Love Pets But Come On Now...

On the way home from some errands and we saw this guy driving down the road with a car full of dogs. there must have been at least 10 of those hot dog shaped dogs running around in the back of the car while he was driving. Each dog was wearing either a dress or a sweater. They were jumping from the front to the back, jumping on the driver, jumping on the dashboard....total chaos. the picture doesn't do it justice....

the driver was going really fast. I kept on thinking how crazyy it would be if he hit the brakes and 10 dogs did the bug splat on the windshield all at once.

Punched In The Chest

The surf was pretty good today after work so I decided to go to catch a couple of waves. I ended up wiping out on a big left and taking one to the chest. Somehow my surfboard poked a hole through my wetsuit and bruised my chest. This happened somewhere between my wipeout and me being pushed to the bottom of the ocean. Fun times...but worth it :)

Go Army

I was bored with the white bike so I decided to go army green. I included some minor brown tints for the custom look. Check it out!

Team Toyota

decided to surf Mission Beach today because there was a contest in O B. when I got there I saw four older surfers parked together by the grass. Each of them was driving a Toyota pickup truck. They had to be surf buddies.

Burn One

I drove home and watched a beautiful sunset. I pulled up to our house and saw our neighbor Ryan burning wood in his backyard fire place. It motivated me to enjoy an evening on the back patio. Too bad the iPad camera doesn't handle low light....the evening scene was beautiful!

Yum

Michelle and I decided to have sushi tonight. We went to Umi Sushi in Point Loma and had some tasty treats. Very yummy. They served our sashimi in an abalone shell. Very cool!

The Price Of Gas

The guy in the hat is fixated on the price of gas. Something about the supreme court and east county....not sure what the deal is but he can't stop talking to people about it. I should say talk to strangers about it...he doesn't know the lady he is sitting next to. I saw him while waiting for the trolly and talking to others about the same topic. When I got on he followed me in, sat down next to the woman, and kept ranting.

Week Two

Still in jury duty...let's see what happened today at the court house...

saw some lady in a cheap pink flower dress cussing at the security team searching her bag

saw three security guards watching a young female attorney almost fall down the stairs and one yelled "I can help because I know CPR"

I saw another security guard talking to a drunk teenager who was upset because he was late to testify in his case

and I saw a hipster with his pants rolled up or pegged as they used to say in the 80's.... that plus his flannel shirt and raybans means that decade is officially cool now.

I am on a jury duty and the hour 30 minute lunches are killing me....anyone know what I can do to kill time downtown that doesn't involve hanging out with the wharf rats?

San Diego British Car Show

We stopped by Vons for some shopping and was surprised to learn there was a British car show going on! Tons of cool Jaguars, Triumphs, MGs, Austin Minis, Sunbeams, and other random British stuff including a Land Rover Defender. We saw a lot of Defenders in Costa Rica. Oh and the Citrone, it was a nice French car but they made the owner park it on the street!

Sailing Trip To The Barefoot Bar

Yesterday Patrick and I took a trip to the Barefoot bar located on an island in Mission Bay. A rented a 16.5 foot boat and sailed to the island. We had a mai tai then headed home and saw some pelicans chilling on the bridge. Fun times!
